ABSINTHE

Quite a simple recipe for making your own Absinthe. Warning: wormwood used in large amounts can be hazardous to your health!

  • 100g dried wormwood (artemisia absinthium)
  • 30g genepy (artemisia genipi)
  • 25g dried hyssop (hyssopus officinalis)
  • 30g dried lemon balm (melissa officinalis)
  • 100g mashed star anise (illicium verum)
  • 20g dried peppermint (mentha piperita)
  • 2l vodka

Blend all together and allow to infuse for two weeks at a warm place. Strain through a cloth. The fluid is mixed with water at a ratio of two parts fluid to one part water before drinking and thus acquires the commonly known milky-green color.
